Avery W-3 with chicks
July 7, 2022 . Heavy weather cells rolled through the Paradise Valley this afternoon. The chicks were shielded from wind and sunshine by Avery changing positions in the nest.

I got in the car twice because of lightening being close. Avery stood her ground and shielded the chicks from the big winds. What a mother.!!

68B takes flight in Paradise Valley
68 B was banded at the RT 89 Rest Stop near Big Creek on 7 18 14. That nest is not far from this nest that he has occupied with his mate for the past few years at least.

The female in flight took a short flight to stretch I suppose. 68 B left and returned with a fish.

Avery lost her GPS in the late Fall of 2021 near Monterey, Mexico. She seems no worse for wear. Old W-3 is back.

With the snow covered Absaroka Mts in the background Avery has returned for another season in Paradise Valley.

Avery has just finished a fish and is about to head for the nest where her mate has been patiently waiting for her return for 10 days or so.

He has been tending the nest for more than a week. She has just arrived. A new adventure in Paradise Valley. Welcome back Avery. No sign of the GPS antennae on her back.

Note the antennae protruding from Avery's back as she takes off. The male has just arrived empty handed so Avery is off to find a fish.
The Barbarians are coming.
The resident pair depart in a rush as the male intruder swoops in.
Under attack.
This Osprey pair was attacked by another pair trying to take over the nest. By now the nest should have eggs. The intruders chased the resident pair off the nest site several times in the hour I was there...and then left.

A very near miss.
The left resident Osprey below the intruder make a huge correction to avoid being hurt by the Barbarian. Meanwhile the female , to the right of the bar is in a fast decent mode to get out of danger.

The male arrives with a small stick. They appear to be starting a new nest here in Corwin Springs.
